In two years the Internet will choke on the streams of spam.
Advertising via e-mail, or, better to say, spam, - is not a new phenomenon on the Internet. However, there isn’t less of it as time goes by. The findings of the company Aberdeen Group, say about absolutely different tendency: there is more and more spam, and there will be a real boom in advertising mailing on the Internet in the near future.
The quantity of spam received by one user is shown in the diagram. There can be seen a fast growth of spam which began 3 years ago and still goes on. At the end of the first half-year of 2006 there was unexpectedly high spam share in the post traffic – a bit more than 80% from the total amount of mail. July, the beginning of the third quarter, shows the same high figures – 80% from the total amount of traffic, and also a few peaks caused by massed spam-attacks where the figures raise up to 90%. Only in the last third of August the share of spam reduces to 70%, and fluctuates later between 70% and 80% with few peaks above 80%.
